COMMENTS: From my personal collection ... Montblanc Meisterstuck 142 in Striated Green celluloid and gold trim. Three rings in the cap. White snowflake that has become more of an amber color with age, indicating this was the correct snowflake and not a modern reproduction (that would look perfectly white in color). Correct sky-slope feed in black hard rubber, making this pen a completely correct and more valuable pen. As their model name implies, the Meisterstuck series were the true masterpiece and top of the line pens made by the Montblanc Pen Company back in the 1950s. The Striated Green celluloid is by far the most sought out celluloid color among vintage Montblanc Meisterstuck from the 1950s. They command a high price, even more when in great condition and with all correct parts. This series included the 142, 144, 146 and the iconic 149 sizes. They are one of the most iconic vintage (and modern) Montblanc pens. Their unique lines are immediately recognized even by folks who are not into fountain pens. They are also a status symbol. The Meisterstuck series from the 1950s were built like a tank. The quality and durability of their celluloid from this decade e 1950s is one of the main reasons a vintage Montblanc 149 can command up to 5 times a higher price than a modern Montblanc 149, new in the box and with full warranty. Why? The ones from the 1950s were built with ultra high-quality celluloid, built to last a lifetime. Fitted with its correct 14ct dual-tone  Montblanc 4810 nib, stamped Medium by the factory. However, this nib produces a line that is more like a Broad in my opinion. The nib is also "soft", meaning that it provides some cushion and it is certainly not a firm (nail) nib. However, I would not call this nib a flex one and I would not use it for flex purposes as this particular nib was not intended for flex purposes. Flexing it may cause to over spring it and the feed may not keep up with adequate ink flow either. I have always used it as a normal nib, in order to keep the nib intact and to preserve it. There may be very slight line variation as I use it, but that is normal when using any soft nib. Nib has been professionally adjusted and it is ultra smooth, that just glides on paper and is a real joy to write with. This pen has been in my personal collection for about 12 years. The only reason I am selling is because I got an identical one in mint condition, just a notch higher than this one. It has been an extremely reliable pen from me. Have taking it on many flights as its piston filler is more conducive for the cabin pressures and the pen has never leaked. My favorite ink for this pen has been the Rohrer & Klingner in Alt Goldgrun color, which is the olive green you see in the writing sample above. Like the pen, this is a fantastic German ink and the ink simply compliments the color of the pen.
The green celluloid in in near mint condition with no darkening or uneven colors throughout the pen. Perfect factory imprints on the cap's wide gold band. Great factory imprints on the barrel knob. The gold trim has a few small spots with brassing. The dual-tone nib has a small area where the silver plating has started to wear off. Due to these two cosmetic flaws, this pen has not been marked as in near mint condition. Pen measures 4 7/8" (capped) and 5 9/16" (posted). This pen was designed and manufactured to be used as posted pen, becoming a full sized pen when posted and offering perfect balance on your hand. Piston filler. Serviced. Made in Germany in the 1950s.

PRICE:
$5,900

COMMENTS: From my personal collection ... Montblanc Meisterstuck L139G oversized fountain pen in black celluloid and gold trim. Three bands by the cap lip. Middle band is gold and two outer bands are silver. Visulated area below the section, clear green in color and with maximum transparency, allowing to see the ink levels inside the pen. The L139G was the largest and the most expensive model produced by the Montblanc pen among all pens in the 13x series and among all pen models they produced in the 1940s. The 13x series are the predecessors of the 14x series from the 1950s. This pen has a lot of heft. It also has a very wide girth (diameter) in the gripping section. Flat-ends with a huge Montblanc white snowflake on the cap's flat-end. Two markings on the knob of the pen, one stating the "L139G" model and the second alluding to its "Medium" nib. It does not have the flat "sky-slope" feed, which was the correct feed for this pen. Some folks changed the feed to the newer version to allow for ideal ink flow as the sky-slope feeds sometimes could not keep up with the stronger ink flow demand from nibs that wrote wider lines. Fitted with its correct (and huge) 14C dual-tone Montblanc 4810 nib that writes a medium/broad line. This is a rigid (firm) nib. Professionally adjusted and ultra smooth nib.
This pen is in mint condition. It looks like it has hardly been used. Perfect exterior color with lots of vibrant color and black luster. Perfect imprints. Maximum transparency in the visulated area of the barrel. Perfect gold bands with no marring on bends. No brassing or gold plating loss in the gold trim. This is a very rare and highly desirable pen, especially in this condition and being a wonderful writer. Piston filler mechanism. New cork in the piston fillers. Made in Germany in the 1940s.

$1200

COMMENTS: Montblanc Meisterstuck Simplo 20 in Black & Pearl celluloid. Gold trim, Domed cap, making it the focal point of this pen model. Two gold slim bands by the cap lip. The Montblanc Meisterstuck pens started being produced around 1925 in hard rubber, later in celluloid. They were the flagship model for the Montblanc company at the time. This is a highly collectable pen. This series came with the 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 models. The larger the number, the larger the size of the pen. Fitted with a 14c gold Montblanc nib that writes a Fine/Medium line (rigid nib). Professionally adjusted nib, ultra smooth writer.
Correct "slope" feed for this model, making it more desirable and more valuable. The snow cone has its typical style with the contour of the Montblanc snow cone logo and with white border lines, making it more desirable and more valuable. The one flaw in this pen is the threads at the end of the barrel where the blind cap is screwed on. Those threads have significant wear. The blind cap catches on tho them, but nor firmly secured. Sometimes, the blind cap falls off. This is the reason the value of this pen is low despite being such a collectable and very early vintage Montblanc pen, and particularly in this non-black color. I am sure someone can remake the threads for the blind cap, which will turn this into a phenomenal pen. I have preferred to leave it unmoslested. The threads for the cap are in great shape and working perfectly. The name "SUZANNE" has been professionally engraved on the side of the barrel. Not as visible due to the celluloid color pattern. Push button filler, serviced and with new rubber sac. Made in Germany in the 1930s.

Fitted with a 14k ALCO (Aikin Lambert Company) superflex nib that writes a fine to triple broad line. Professionally adjusted nib, ultra smooth nib, and also capable of writing at any speed when not flexed. This is certainly a replacement nib as this pen should have come with an European 14ct Warranted nib. This eyedropper pen is in great and very clean condition. Its only flaw is its barrel that is slightly warped, just a tad.  The hard rubber in in great condition. Very crisp and with a tad of discoloration on the barrel. Perfect barrel imprints on the barrel. Threads are in great shape. Eyedropper filler mechanism. Fully serviced. Made in Bavaria, Germany c.1910.

PRICE:

COMMENTS: Conway Stewart Scribe 366 fountain pen in smooth black hard hard rubber and nickel trim. Fitted with a 14ct Conway Stewart nib that writes a medium line. This is a "springy" and not a flex nib. While it offers some very pleasant "cushion" while writing, it is not recommended to flex this nib when writing as it was not designed or manufactured for flex purposes. It can get easily damaged if flexed. Professionally adjusted nib. Ultra smooth. The hard rubber is in awesome condition. A tad of brassing on the nickel trim. Perfect imprints on the barrel. A very clean pen in a very desirable piece due to being a true workhorse of a fountain pen. Lever filler. New sac. Made in England in the 1930s.

COMMENTS: Conway Stewart 85L fountain pen in black and nickel trim. Nickel jewel on the cap. Slim band on the cap. Full sized pen. Fitted with its factory original and correct 14k Conway Stewart nib that writes a fine line (border line with a medium line). The nib has a lit of bit of springiness which makes it very pleasurable to write with, but not enough to be considered a flexible nib. As such, I do not recommed to be pushing this nib like if it were a flexible nib as it can easily overspring. Very smooth writing nib. Great black color on the barrel and cap. Great barrel imprints. Lever box is gold-filled while the rest of the trim is nickel-filled. Nickel trim has some light tarnish and discoloration. Lever filler mechanism. Made in England in the 1950s and early 1960s.

PRICE: $450

COMMENTS: Conway Stewart 770 Duro Oversize in smooth black hard rubber and gold trim. This is a rather huge pen for vintage standards, the size of a Parker Duofold Senior, which is not typical from Conway Stewart. The Duro in this pen stands for thicker walls in the barrel and cap. Slightly domed cap. Fitted with a 14ct Conway Stewart superflex nib that writes a broad to triple broad line. The "ct" marking on the nib indicates this is a European made nib. Smooth nib, capable of writing at any speed when not flexed. The black hard rubber has significant discoloration. The gold trim has significant brassing and gold plating loss. Otherwise, this is a very clean pen and a great flex writer. Lever
filler mechanism. Made in England in the 1920s.

PRICE: $295

COMMENTS: From my personal collection ... Vintage Aurora 88k with black celluloid barrel and gold cap.
This is an iconic vintage Italian pen, inspired on the huge success of the Parker 51 pen in the US. The Aurora 88 mimics a lot of the design and geometry elements of the Parker 51, but it enhances some features, such as the additional of a piston filler mechanism, a semi-hooded nib which allowed for flex nibs in some of these pens, celluloid barrels, etc. Fitted with a 14ct. Aurora rigid nib that writes a medium line. Professionally adjusted nib. Ultra smooth. Ultra clean barrel with perfect imprints. Maximum transparency in its barrel, allowing to see the ink levels inside the barrel. If it were not for a small area in the upper area of the clip where there is gold plating loss and some brassing on the metal "jewel" of the cap, this pen would be graded as in near-mint condition. Piston filler. Serviced. Made in Italy in the 1950s.

PRICE: $2,200

COMMENTS: From my personal collection ... Vintage Pelikan 101N in Tortoise celluloid (both the barrel sleeve and the cap sleeve) and red ends. Gold trim. This is an ultra rare vintage Pelikan pen. Most of the 101N only have the Tortoise sleeve on the barrel. Others have both the barrel and cap sleeves, but have black ends. Even fewer (some from the later 1939 year) also have the translucid area, as a large portion of the barrel (light green in color and with maximum transparency!) that allows to see ink levels inside the pen. This pen sample has all of those features and it is in fantastic condition. All correct parts as well, making it a highly collectable and an extremely valuable vintage Pelikan pen. The nib and feed are the screw-type onto the section. Fitted with a 14ct. Pelikan medium flex nib (border line wiht a Superflex nib) that writes a medium (border line with a broad line) to double broad line. Professionally adjusted nib, ultra smooth and capable of writing at any speed when not flexed. Ultra clean celluloid.
No engravings or personalizations on the barrels or caps. Very minor ink spots on the translucid area of the barrel. No engravings or personalizations on the barrels or caps. Gold trim is in awesome condition. Piston filler. Serviced. Made in Germany in the 1939.

Nib Type: Med. Flex B-BB              Imprints: No                  Length: 4 11/16”
PRICE: $495

COMMENTS: From my personal collection ... Vintage Pelikan Gunther Wagner IBIS 130 in black celluloid and gold trim. Domed ends. This particular sample was made after World-War II at the beginning of the 1950s. There is a slightly smaller version in hard rubber made prior to World-War II. The Pelikan Company positioned the IBIS model as a more economical than the 100N. They are nonetheless as good as the 100N pens. Fairly few of them were made and hence the reason they are not as popular.
Fitted with a 14C-585 Pelikan gold nib, which I would grade as a Medium Flex nib that writes a Broad to Double Broad line. Professionally adjusted nib, ultra smooth and capable of writing at any speed when not flexed. The iridium tipping in this nib is very round and very suitable for someone new to flex writing, someone who writes very fast most of the time or to an over writer. Fairly clean pen. Celluloid is in decent shape. Visualated area of the barrel has some internal ink stains. Gold trim is in great shape. factory imprints on the cap (above the clip) are in perfect condition. They read " GUNTHER WAGNER GERMANY IBIS 130". The IBIS model did not come with a chick logo imprint on the cap. Piston filler. Serviced. Made in Germany in the early 1950s.

PRICE: $750

COMMENTS: Vintage Pelikan 400 in Tortoise celluloid and gold trim. This set is comprised of the fountain pen and matching ball point pen. This is an early 400m model, in which the nib and feed are friction-fit inside the section. A large portion of the barrel in the fountain pen is translucid, amber in color, allowing to see the ink levels inside the pen. And this translucid area has maximum transparency, making it the focal point of this pen and a highly desirable and rare pen, especially in this condition.
Fitted with a 14ct. Pelikan medium flex nib that writes a medium (border line with a broad line) to double broad line. Professionally adjusted nib, ultra smooth and capable of writing at any speed when not flexed. Ultra clean celluloid. No engravings or personalizations on the barrels or caps. Gold trim is in awesome condition. Piston filler. Serviced. The ball point pen has the clicker mechanism, it is fully operational and in phenomenal condition as well. Made in Germany in the 1940s.
