PRICE:
$750

COMMENTS: This is a very old safety filler ringtop made by Magus in Italy (not an Aurora pen). It has a rolled gold overlay with two silver ornated bands in floral motifs. The barrel is marked with “<<MA-GUS> P.G.LAM.” while the nib is stamped with “585 Gold.” The nib writes a silky smooth flex fine to medium line and is activated by rotating the bottom mechanism of the pen. This pen is rated mint, not usual for pens from those times. This pen is a true statement of creativity in pen design and master craftsmanship by Italian jewelers of the times. Its design is so beautiful that Montblanc started making its own version, called “Nr. 1 Safety Gold” and was produced from 1920 to 1927 … very hard to find and a very prized model, especially if in mint condition. Montblanc also produces a modern pen with this design. Aurora makes a modern pen using the same desing clues from this Magus vintage model, called “Aurora 75th Anniversario Pen” a limited edition that sells for more than 1,100 Euros.

Overall Grade: Outstanding       Metal: Outstanding           Color: Excellent
Nib condition: Outstanding        Thread: Excellent             Clarity: (n/a)
Nib Type:
Flex – F to M             Imprints: None                 Length: 4 3/16”                 PRICE: $350

COMMENTS: Aurora Olo Ringtop in an amazing green celluloid color (very similar pattern to the Parker Vacumatic in Emerald Green color). Silver color trim. The black blind cap is marked “OLO” and the nib is marked “OLO 585% 4” denoting this is a gold nib size #4. This nib writes a silky smooth line varying from fine to medium. Aurora was founded in 1919 in Turin, Italy. Olo & Asco, Aurora’s official sub-brands of Aurora, started production in 1929 as a more economical pen. The sac in this pen was recently, and to my amusement, the existing sac was in the red color. Having never seen a red sac (perhaps popular in Italy in those times), I have saved that red sac as a souvenir, adding a little extra vintage touch to this pen. The listed price is for the pen and the old (non-functional) sac. Aurora has been manufacturing high quality fountain pens for 90 years. This is your chance to own a very hard model to find and piece of history from Aurora pens.
